Star Gooseburry in Heavy Syrup
Clean and drain star gooseburry and roll star gooseburry by hand to soften slightly. Blend well alum water and salt. Marinate star gooseburry in this water for at least 4 hours. Clean and drain star gooseburry again and put in a 4-quart container. Add sugar and water to the container, mix well. Microwave, covered, at High (600-700 Watts) for 10 minutes. Stir once and microwave, uncovered, at High for 20 minutes. Reduce power to Defrost (200 Watts) and microwave, covered, for 35 minutes.
