Nachos are a classic microwave recipe. They are just so quick and easy to make and always turn out delicious. This recipe is perfect for an after school snack, a party appetizer, or a quick meal during the week.

Why Make Nachos in the Microwave?

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of tortilla chips
  • 1/3 cup of shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup of shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 can of black beans
  • 1/2 an avocado
  • salsa or a diced tomato
  • sour cream
  • can of jalapeños (optional)

How to Make Nachos in the Microwave – Step by Step

  1. Spread tortilla chips out evenly on a plate, scoop your desired amount of black beans over the chips and microwave on high for 30 seconds
  2. Remove plate from microwave, sprinkle with cheeses, and microwave on high for another 30 seconds; continue microwaving in 30 second increments until cheese is melted
  3. Remove from microwave and top with avocado, salsa, sour cream and jalapeños

Tips For Making Nachos in the Microwave

When adding a topping, spread them out over the chips as evenly as possible so that everything cooks evenly. And so you get that perfect bite every time you eat a chip!

Keep an eye on your nachos while they cook so the cheese does not overcook and harden.

If you want other ingredients to be warm also, pop your plate in the microwave for an additional 15-20 seconds.

Eat immediately! This recipe is best served straight out of the microwave.
