Pancakes in the Microwave

Learn how to make perfect fluffy pancakes in the microwave every time in just one minute!

Making pancakes in the microwave is a great recipe for any time of the day or week. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, pancakes it is always the right time for pancakes.

This recipe is so simple and easy, you will have a plate of fluffy warm pancakes in no time! I like to use this recipe on the weekends when I want to cook a yummy breakfast, but also don’t want to have too much to clean up afterwards.

Pancakes in the Microwave?!

  • You don’t need to heat up a griddle
  • The microwave is consistent so you get the same fluffy pancake every time!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

How to Make Pancakes in the Microwave – Step by Step

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt, stir
  2. Add in melted butter, milk, egg and vanilla extract; whisk until batter is formed
  3. Grease a microwave safe plate with butter or cooking spray
  4. Use a spoon to place a large scoop of pancake batter into the center of the plate; microwave on high for one minute
  5. Remove and use a fork to make sure it is cook through; microwave in 10 second intervals until fork is removed from pancake with no batter on it
  6. Top with butter, drizzle with syrup, add your favorite fruit, and enjoy!

Does Pancake Batter From the Box Work for This Recipe?

Yes! The batter that comes in the box may be thinner and have a more liquidy consistency than the batter made with my recipe. That’s ok though, microwave your pancake for 45 seconds, check it, and then continue to microwave for an additional 15 seconds.

Depending on how many watts your microwave is, which batter you are using, and what size your pancake is, cook time may vary. But I encourage you to experiment and have fun! Let me know what works and what doesn’t work for you in the comments.

Should I Allow the Pancake Batter Rest?

Yes! If you have time, definitely allow your batter to rest after mixing it. This gives the batter time to thicken and air bubbles time to work their way out.
