How to make potato wedges in the microwave, for a very simple and very tasty side dish, snack, or appetizer!

Making potato wedges in the microwave seems like a daunting task, I know! But not to worry, making them in the microwave is really easy and really fast. Keep reading to learn how to make the perfect potato wedges right in your kitchen.

I like to use this recipe as a side dish during the week to go along with hot dogs, hamburgers, or Mac and cheese. It is an easy dish to whip up and everybody loves them, you really can’t go wrong with potato wedges.

Perfect for when you need to use the potatoes sitting on your counter, but a baked potato doesn’t sound satisfying. Who doesn’t want a fresh hot plate of potato wedges?

Ingredients

  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground paprika
  • 1/2 tsp italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Parmesan cheese

How to Make Potato Wedges in the Microwave – Step by Step

  1. Rinse and scrub potatoes so there is no dirt on them

2. In a mixing bowl (you will be tossing potato wedges in this bowl so make sure it is somewhat deep) combine olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, and salt

3. Slice potatoes lengthwise into desired size (I cut mine into eighths)

4. Place slices into bowl with seasoning and toss to coat

5. Lay coated potato wedges in a microwave safe casserole dish and microwave on high power for about 5 minutes

6. Remove (be careful dish will be hot), flip potato wedges and microwave on high for an additional 5 minutes or until tender

7. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese, enjoy!

Yes! Making potato wedges in the microwave at home is much healthier than buying them because they are not soaked in grease and fried.

What Kind of Potatoes Should I Use?

Any potatoes! Have fun and experiment with different kinds, I used russet potatoes, but you could use Yukon, sweet, red, white, or purple!

For classic potato wedges, use russet or white potatoes!
